Venture Concept

1. I am hoping to attract anyone that is single, and looking for a potential marriage partner. There are variations of businesses like this in our society, but there isn’t one quite like mine.  Unfortunately, the forces in the environment that helped create this opportunity for me is the decline in marriages, and with the hope that the trend stays this way, or that people prefer my method over anything else they’ve been introduced to is what is going to help keep my business standing. I wouldn’t say that the market is defined geographically, but towns with a high percentage of younger citizens do have a higher rate of single people rather than those populated by older people. Additionally the demographics for this market are just anyone 18yrs or older, and single. Other than that I want to promote diversity with my company, so anyone the meets the age requirement no matter the socioeconomic status, or race, or background is allowed to partake. The customers I have talked to are sat...

Celebrating Failure

I would have to say that the biggest thing I failed at this semester is overestimating myself. When this class first began, I thought I would be able to do this with my eyes closed, and be able to breeze through. I think after missing several assignments, I finally had a wake up call. Initially I would try to complete all my assignments before 12pm, and still go to my morning class. But it barely ever worked. This realization caused me to make adjustments to my schedule, and take this class more seriously. Though some weeks I was still busy, and tried to revert back to this lazy mindset, and ended up failing every time. One thing I learned was procrastination doesn’t work with every class. There are some class that are easy enough that you can do a great work hours before it’s due. But then there are classes like this that require actual brain power and needs more than a quick sit down to produce great work. Failure is really hard, but I think failure makes you stronger, and it make...

Exit Strategy

Whew! I haven’t really thought of my exit strategy. But, I think the world is fast changing, and I don’t see it slowing down any time soon. But, I think if the marriage rate in this country keeps declining, and people are still single, and like to party, then my business will stay relevant. In my opinion with the way is going, and it’s favor for electronic devices, I believe people will really appreciate my old school approach to dating while still trying to keep it as updated as possible. With all that being said I hope to protect my business and keep it within the family. But, this can change as each new generation comes in, and how society is doing at the time. I would hope that 7 generations later, and my business will still be standing. My thoughts are at every 10 year anniversary of the business the CEO can evaluate the business plan, and make a great decision regarding the business. Looking back now, I can see that this exit strategy is the best for my business, and all of my...

Reading Reflection

The book that I decided to report on is called: How to Fail at Almost Everything and Still Win Big. This book focuses on switching up our mindsets from wanting to reach a goal, but wanting to build a system. A goal is something that has many flaws, and may or may not be attainable, while the same can’t be said about a system. Additionally, the author made it a point to talk about risk taking. How to find a place where you are the most comfortable taking risks, and start there. There were many connections between the book, and the class that we are currently in, but the thing that jumped out to me, would have to be failure. Failure is something that’s necessary, and unavoidable on the road to success. This reminded me of an assignment that forces us to celebrate our failures. As we know nothing in life worth having is easy, and this book makes very clear, and falling down isn’t important. The most important thing about falling down is the way you get up and keep moving; what do you d...

30A - Final Reflection

Image
There isn’t a specific event that I’m proud of accomplishing, but accomplishing the class in general makes me very proud. Not just that but ending this class with a good grade makes me extremely happy. At first I didn’t understand why I needed to take this class, but after going through it, I have to say that I’m happy that I decide to stay. I think my joyous moment was watching my own growth, I would like to believe that I was always an outside thinker. But, I was extremely wrong, now everything I do, I wonder how can I make this better? This isn’t something I did before this class. Making the business that I came up in this class will forever stick with me, even if it doesn’t go anywhere. I have always wanted to be an entrepreneur, and here I am taking the first step. I do see myself as entrepreneur, mainly because an entrepreneur is more than someone owning a business. It’s someone who can identify a problem, and decide to be the change they want to see. It does include a lot of wo...

Reading Reflection #2

The book that I chose to read is called “Art of Social Media”, I chose this one because our generation is wrapped up in Social Media. If there is a way for young people to use what they love to put money in their pockets than, why not? The main theme of this book is just to help people use their social media accounts as a way to generate money, gain customers, and it my help you gain potential investors. I found a lot of common themes between the book and this class, in that it just helped emphasize all that I’m already learning right now. One of them is just professionalism. As an entrepreneur everything in our life is a reflection of us, and our business no matter what we think. Additionally, it made a point to tell us to listen to our customers, find our target group, and see what they need, what your community really needs, and “cater” to that need. I think a potential exercise would be to just browse through social media accounts and see what other entrepreneurs have found ...

Elevator Pitch #3

I didn’t really receive any feedback on my second elevator pitch. But, my second pitch did include some points that were made in the first pitch. My plan is to keep my pitch exactly like the second one, but a little more slowed down, and more interactive. I did find that on my third pitch it was less robotic and more natural. I felt like I knew the information way better than the first time I performed this pitch, it was actually my business. Video link:  https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ZDV5ELwoe3Y
