Reading Reflection

1. I thing what really surprised me to hear was that Jobs had an extremely rough startup. He literally cane from nothing , and was able to build such a successful company that we know today. He used his surroundings to be inspired and propel himself forward, all throughout the book Jobs showed extreme tenacity.  Jobs mentions something called an RDF ( Reality Distortion Field). It’s basically him changes his reality until it matched what he seen in his mind. This is very inspiring to be because many times our surroundings don’t match up to what we are envisioning, so we basically give up. But, having an RDF forces us to keep working to have both our imagination and reality line up.  Jobs wasn’t the easiest to work with. So something I would say I least admired about him would have to be his attitude. He didn’t really appreciate the people around him. He tried to excuse his bad attitude with nice words, but that didn’t make up for the fact that he was very irritable and ...

Halfway Reflection

Image
At first I thought I was really going to struggle, seeing as how this is an entrepreneurship class and I’m taking this course at home. I didn’t really have faith in myself to do the work and stay on top of things. I really struggled with the cupcakes, and trying to keep up with the deadlines. But then I decided not to wait until Friday between classes to do work, but rather take about 3-4 hours one day a week and get Friday’s assignments done. Then Sunday night I try to watch the lesson videos and do my cupcakes, and then respond to post on Monday morning. I have found this has helped me dedicate the amount of time I need for this class without me drowning myself in school work. I wouldn’t say anything specific happened to me that made me buckle down and try my best to pass this class. I think my reflection of goals and what steps I was taking to achieve those is what really accelerated me into taking my grades, and school work even more serious. 1. Be real about your abilities. 2....

Figuring out buyer behavior 1

Segment:  Single people looking for a real love connection. Need Awareness: I the first person I was able to interview was my best friends father. One point in time he was married to her mother, but unfortunately their marriage ended in a divorce. He has been through many failed relationships including his marriage and he is now tired. He recently turned sixty years old, and hasn’t been a really successful relationship. His age is making him feel like he is nearing the end of his life, thus has no more time for him to find true love. He mentioned that he is extremely desperate and is willing to try anything to find love. The next person I was able to interview was my auntie, for as long as she could remember she has wanted to be married, and have a family. He age isn’t the thing that’s pushing her to be married rather her two sons is the force that is making her notice her need. She has always wanted to give her sons a father figure and a “real” family, but as they are entering...

Idea Napkin No. 1

1. Who am I? I am a second year psychology major with a minor in innovation. I am a Florida native, and I come from an extremely big family. I don’t really enjoy going out, I’d much rather stay in, and sleep, read, relax (by watching tv, going on social media, or listening to music.) I hope to one day become a criminal profiler, but I would also like to use my minor, and maybe have a small business on the side. I have limited experience when it comes to being an entrepreneur, and the business world. But the little experience I do have comes from my mom starting her own business when I was probably a freshman in high school. I don’t really know any details about the process, but I was able to see her do little things such as; maintenance, dealing with customers, adjusting prices, etc. l believe that the business that I have come up will play a huge role in myself because I could potentially benefit from the service, it could help financially, and it could also be a way for me to bu...

Elevator pitch

Testing the hypothesis part II

My ultimate goal is to come up with a product or service to aid the dating world, and to indirectly increase the marriage rates in our country.  Who: The first person I interviewed was one of my friends who is also a college student, but goes to college in a different state. My friend is a beautiful young lady, who is single but not really looking for a serious relationship. This reason alone would cause her to fall outside of my boundaries, because the final goal is marriage, and at this time she isn’t really looking or focusing on marriage. My second interview included a young man in one of my classes who is engaged to be married soon. He liked the idea of my app though he would have no use for it, which ultimately makes him fall outside of my boundaries. But, he stated that he wished he had something that made it easier to meet women, and potentially garnish a real relationship. The third person I interviewed was my roommate, she is a student here at UF, and at this time ...

Solving the problem

Opportunity: An innovative way to increase the marriage in our society, to help promote financial stability, better health in our society, and a decrease in crime rates. Service: I think the government should implement an incentive to marriage. This would in turn cause more people to become married, and for more people to stay married. The marriage would have to first be legitimate, and recognized by the state of residence. Additionally, there would be two random yearly therapists visits, and home visits to ensure true happiness, and a successful marriage. The actual incentive would be small, and would change based upon the years of marriage. Lastly, this small incentive would sadly be added with our taxes, but then a portion of that would be given back during tax returns. So essentially society is paying you, to be in love, and married.

Testing the hypothesis part 1

1. The problem that I would like to focus on is the declining rate of marriage in our country. 2. Our country strives off of stability of the family unit. Researchers have found that the breakdown of this unit is linked to many problems in our society  such as higher crime rates, economic stability, and poor health in our society. A. Who: I believe everyone is affected by this decline in our society. B. What: They are unable to reap the supposed benefits that marriage offers, such as better health, better economic status, and an increase in social mobility. C. Why: The family unit and marriage is a bond that our society depends upon for success. 3.  Testing... A. Testing The Who: Everyone that I have identified in my who shares this need. As stated before this is a societal issue; which affects everyone. B. Testing the what: There are no boundaries associated with this need. Increasing the marriage rate in our country is supposed to make the benefits of life, liberty, ...

Identifying Opportunities in Economic & Regulatory Trends

1. Combating inequality: Rethinking policies to reduce inequalities in advanced economies A. An article on this site.  https://www.piie.com/events/combating-inequality-rethinking-policies-reduce-inequality-advanced-economies B. I believe there is an opportunity available because inequality in our economic system has been a problem in recent news. This issue is one that many people care deeply about, and have fought very tirelessly and hard to try to overcome. For us, as a nation to implement a policy that would make this happen for all the women in our country would be amazing, and would be long overdue.  C. I believe the prototypical customer would be women of all races in advanced economies. D. I believe this would be relatively hard to exploit, because if it was easy it would’ve been done already. Many people aren’t going to vote for this because it’s nit something they are used to. I think until we start getting forward thinking people that looks past a person r...
